PLANNERS have given permission for a residential development at the entrance to Craighall Business Park, just north of Glasgow City Centre.
Officials agreed that 34 flats in two blocks can be built on a grassed area between Craighall Road and High Craighall Road, near the junction with Borron Street, across from the canal near Speirs Wharf.
Each building will have 17 two-bedroom flats over five floors, two of which are duplex flats, and a communal roof terrace.
Thirty-seven covered car parking spaces will be provided within the basement area.
A decision report by Glasgow City planners states: “The site has no existing buildings or green infrastructure. The proposed layout establishes a strong and logical building line to Craighall Road and High Craighall Road, thus repairing the street edge.
“While the architectural language is restrained, the development’s form provides the development with a distinctive identity and character which responds imaginatively to the site constraints and the surrounding townscape context.
“The development is considered to have a respectful relationship with surrounding buildings, and has an appropriate scale and massing within the townscape.
“The landscaping proposals will introduce tree and shrub planting and improve the biodiversity of the site.”
