NEARLY 50 properties for affordable rent are being proposed for a site in Easterhouse.

The Wheatley Group has applied to develop 47 houses and cottage flats, all two storeys, on land behind and to the east of Easterhouse fire station.

The site is bounded by Westerhouse Road, Shandwick Street, Arnisdale Place and Arnisdale Road.

A mix of two and three-bedroom accommodation is proposed.

A design document submitted to Glasgow City Council states: “The development of the brownfield site will positively impact the surrounding area, filling a gap site which has been undeveloped since the demolition of the previous tenement flats.”

The planning application is pending consideration by planners.
