APARTMENTS Plan For Empty Glasgow East End Job Centre

29 May, 2020 | News, Residential

PLANNING permission is being sought to turn an empty job centre building in Bridgeton into nearly 50 flats.

The offices on Muslin Street at Acorn Street were closed in February 2018.

Spectrum Properties (Scotland) Ltd want to convert the premises into 39 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom  flats. There would be 38 parking spaces

A statement submitted with their application explains: “The proposed scheme will complement and contribute to the local area providing additional good quality private rental apartments that are in great demand.

“It provides a sustainable re-use of a redundant building, with little likelihood of the building being returned to a commercial use due to lack of demand.

“The proposals require minimal structural intervention and provide 49 residential apartments in an area with little other alternative than housing associations, with long waiting lists.”

The application is pending assessment by Glasgow City planners.
