APARTMENTS Conversion Above City Centre Restaurants Gets Go-Ahead

6 November, 2019 | News, Residential

PLANNERS have agreed that empty offices above two Glasgow City Centre restaurants can be turned into flats.

Five apartments can be created on the upper floors at 20 Bath Street, council officials decided. The ground floor contains Yiamas Greek restaurant and Bath Street Burger.

There will be one three-bedroom flat on each of the first and second floors and three two-bedroom flats on the top floor. Some space will be kept for storage.

A statement submitted with the application explained: “The proposals account for a complete refurbishment of the interior to form new mainstream residential flats along with some minor external works.

“The proposals will provide a high quality contemporary and fresh interior suited to the current market which will be attractive to a broad demographic.

“Each flat achieves good-sized, open plan living areas along with double bedrooms.”

The statement continued: “The proposal will also inject much-needed life back into a robust unoccupied building which will help to sustain it for the forthcoming years.”
