APARTHOTEL Conversion Proposed For Office Building

8 November, 2023 | Hotels, Office

PLANS have been drawn up to turn a vacant city centre office building into an aparthotel.

The 143-bed facility is proposed for Cotton House, on the corner of Cochrane Street and Montrose Street

It will be operated by Roomzzz which has 11 sites in eight UK cities. It will be their first aparthotel in Glasgow.

Works to the exterior would be minimal. A new commercial unit would be created on the ground floor, accessed from Montrose Street.

A document submitted with the planning application states: “A key design objective of the aparthotel is to provide high-quality amenity space throughout. The proposals include an impressive reception area with artwork which references the local area and Glasgow.

“At ground floor, lounges and communal eating facilities will be provided. The layout has been purposely designed to help to reactivate the elevations to Cochrane Street.

“Additional amenity is to be provided within the proposed communal areas including a gym, co-working spaces and an external amenity terrace at level five.

“Whilst the gym will primarily be for the aparthotel guests, showers and changing facilities shall be provided to allow co-working users to use it too.

“The co-working space shall be provided on the newly-formed mezzanine level. Operating under the WorkInc brand, this will provide a mix of meeting rooms, open working spaces and a podcast studio for residents and the general public.”
