24-HOUR Supermarket Drive-Thru Proposal Rejected

21 February, 2024 | News

PLANS for a second drive-thru restaurant at a Glasgow supermarket have been refused the city council.

The application, made by Euro Garages Ltd involved an area of the car park at Asda, Toryglen

The drive-thru would have been near the entrance, on the opposite side from the petrol station.

No details of an operator were given in planning documents, although it was stated that the restaurant/takeaway would be open 24 hours a day.

City planners have now refused the application because it had not been “adequately screened for flood risk”.

Their report stated: “The applicant has failed to provide a flood risk assessment and a proposed drainage layout and assessment which has been independently checked. This has been requested on a number of occasions with no response since October 2023.”

The store already has a MacDonald’s restaurant and drive-thru in its car park.
